PWE successfully delivered the Craterville Road Repair Project at Fort Sill, Oklahoma—marking the first OptiPave roadway installation on Fort Sill and a milestone in advanced concrete pavement technology for the installation. The project involved critical roadway, low-water crossing, and culvert improvements across multiple locations along Craterville Road, a key transportation corridor within the base.

Work was performed at three separate mile post segments, each requiring unique construction solutions. The scope included demolition and reconstruction of existing roadways, installation of reinforced concrete low-water crossings, large-diameter reinforced concrete culverts, riprap aprons, armored embankments, asphalt transitions, drainage improvements, signage, and full site restoration. All work was carefully sequenced to maintain drainage control, protect adjacent infrastructure, and restore traffic safely upon completion of each segment.

A defining feature of the project was the use of OptiPave concrete pavement reinforced with Forta Ferro® Macro Synthetic Fibers, a high-performance alternative to traditional steel reinforcement. This system improves crack control, durability, and long-term performance while reducing construction complexity. PWE is the only certified OptiPave installer in the State of Oklahoma, uniquely positioning the company to execute this specialized work to manufacturer and U.S. Army standards.

Construction required precise layout, dewatering operations, reinforced concrete placement, and strict compliance with USACE specifications, EM 385-1-1 safety requirements, and environmental controls. The project also included protection of identified cultural resource areas, erosion control measures, and phased acceptance of work by mile post—demanding disciplined planning and coordination throughout execution.

By combining advanced materials, technical expertise, and experienced self-performing crews, PWE delivered a durable, mission-ready roadway system that enhances drainage performance, improves safety, and extends the service life of critical infrastructure.
